When the Curry family approached World Vision about putting the charity’s logo on the side of one of their transport trailers, Dave Toycen, president of World Vision Canada, thought they were talking about something small. It turns out the owners of Provincial Transport Service had something more grand in mind.
“When we were first approached we thought they were talking about putting on a two- or three-foot image but they wanted to put it on the whole side of the trailer ”, Toycen said.
“We are involved in about 100 countries and no one else has ever done anything like this.”
After a slow start during its first few years in operation, Provincial Transport Services continues to prove itself an asset to London’s economy.
Since founder John Curry arrived in Canada from Ireland in 1967, with his wife and eight children, he has always played an active role in the local transportation industry, however, it was not until 1986, that John, now in semi retirement, and his son Paul began the difficult struggle to establish the current Provincial Transport Services company.

Provincial Transport Services has grown during difficult times in the trucking industry. It’s been quite a trip for , who left the insurance business 12 years ago to haul a chain-saws around in a couple of vans at the family’s new transportation firm.
Today, he is the President of Provincial Transport Services, a growing company tucked away in a nondescript industrial plaza on Clarke Road in London. Despite the tough recession and a manufacturing slowdown, Provincial, which currently has a fleet of 25 trucks, survived - even grew.
